Surgeries 240 -243, July 07

Three Open Mic Surgeries, expertly compered by Creedy, Mandy & Craig, & Marcus, respectively. Three weeks which saw the last of the old smoky OMS, & the dawn of a bright new age where we can actually see each other across the room – Mandy was glad to see the audience at last, but Alice wasn’t so keen (can’t say I blame her, having looked around…) Three great evenings with loads of old favourites & plenty of new acts – far too many to list individually (29 acts in OMS 241 alone). Audience participation both human and canine (appropriately, to Tall Paul‘s Gone To The Dogs) Highlights included Cayn‘s witty & fast-moving spoken word, The Queen Is On The Game (OMS 240) Aoife‘s brilliant a cappella rendition of Fever (OMS 241) Ben‘s haunting medley & drum, Tim Radins‘ etherial harp-playing (OMS 242), and loads more…
If you’d like to see more detail, how about volunteering to do the occasional write-up? Or just one write-up? It would be good to get a cross-section of views from the audience instead of the same old same old from me – go on, give it a go!

I enjoyed my visit to the Stubbing Wharf! Thanks for the warm welcome. If anyone would like to read the poem I performed The Red, White, and Blue, here is its online location, published by Third Eye Magazine:
http://thirdeyemag.com/redwhiteblueAnd I enjoyed hearing the gentleman sing “The Wreck of the Edmund Fitzgerald,” since I’m from Michigan, USA – the Great Lakes State.
