open mic' in the bar

I’m surprised that there are as yet no reports on last weeks session in the bar which despite the constraints was very successful and hugely entertaining.
I was once again impressed by the level of skill and talent on offer.
As well as many current regulars there were people who I didn,t know but who were obviously returnees and well known to many There was some really good stuff there.
We ought to set up a sweepstake to raise funds. It would be based around who will be the first open micer to have a “hit” album or song in the mainstream music world. Who will be the first to to have a “hit” single. Who will win the first award. Grammy anyone? The list of possibles is endless.
As for last week. The level of noise in the bar, which of course was unavoidable, was in a strange way entertaining in itself, but did of course detract from some more subtle performances.
It has been remarked to me that the normal sessions upstairs can be quite daunting as most everyone is actually and obviously listening and it can feel very exposed. I can sympathise with that.
Sometimes a noisy audience can be a help.
I seem to be making a habit of not mentioning any actual names or songs when I write stuff here. That is because I cannot remember any, or at least many. I blame old age but that is nonsense. I have always been this way. Anyway it is now my policy to be vague and general in my comments. You all know who you are.
derek

Is the open mic downstairs now or was this a one off?
